Child & Youth Mental Health’s Pressing Needs

The Role of Education System and Parents

Expert Panel Hosted by ParentConnect

1 in 5 children and youth in Ontario are affected by mental illness, and 5 out of 6 of them do not receive the treatment they need.* Many parents don’t recognize their children’s early stage depression and anxiety, or do not know where to seek help or how to manage. The Ontario election is fast approaching, ParentConnect will be hosting an expert panel, sharing insights and advice on children and youth mental wellness. Our panel of experts include former school trustees, politicians, psychologist and CFS psychotherapist. Moderated by the founder of ParentConnect, Loretta Lam, organizer encourages all parents and the community representatives join the event with questions and opinions.

ParentConnect is a not-for-profit initiative and one-stop online parenting platform founded by a passionate immigrant parent to promote positive parenting and a better future society. Results from a focus group study by ParentConnect shows that there is a huge information gap for new and immigrant parents to access the knowledge and resources they need to raise a family in an unfamiliar and time-stressed environment.
